Prison Ministry
Lance Shackleford, founder of Times Of Refreshing Ministries, has a heart for those in prison, because he has been in their shoes. He knows what it’s like to be on a road to nowhere fast, in a never-ending cycle of incarceration. Lance got high for the first time at 11 years old. By the 8th grade, he was smoking pot, drinking alcohol, and taking meth and LSD on a regular basis. He soon turned to stealing to support his severe addiction. He was first arrested at the age of 19 for check forgery. Fully immersed into a life of brutality, crime, and drugs, Lance soon found himself facing a long prison sentence after a two-hour high-speed car chase. |
RedemptionOne day while in prison, Lance attended a chapel service just to shut up some of his friends. “They just wouldn’t leave me alone. So, I told them I would come if they never bothered me about it again…” The message was about The Prodigal Son. It was the hook that reeled Lance in. He started reading his bible daily, hungrily consuming the Word of God.After being released from prison the final time in 2006, he soon found himself in the Kansas City, MO area. There, he learned to serve in the local church and be faithful to a community of believers. It was also where God introduced Lance to prison ministry, where he volunteered faithfully, bringing hope and redemption to those behind bars. | |
